Fair Treat for Festive Foodies on the 14th December 2008
You could treat yourself to a visit to a traditional food and drink fair, featuring a wealth of locally produced products, in the surroundings of a beautiful private country house, in the heart of the Peak District.
The Thornbridge Hall Xmas Food & Drink Fair will be held at Thornbridge Hall, off the A6020 at Ashford-in-the-Water, from 10am to 3pm on Sunday 14 December. Admission will be free.
It is the third year the event - organised by Thornbridge Hall in partnership with Peak District Foods, part of the University of Derby Buxtons Food from the Peak District initiative - has been held, to promote local produce.
Around 30 retailers will be selling products including handmade chocolates, traditional puddings, rare breed meats, smoked produce, herb oils and preserves.
Thornbridge Hall micro brewery will also be selling its own range of award-winning fine ales.
There will be the chance to explore the stately homes gardens.
Tara Silverman, Project Leader for Food from the Peak District, based at the Institute of Tourism & Hospitality at the University of Derby Buxton, said This is a fantastic opportunity to buy fresh, delicious, local food in time for the Xmas break and have a relaxing day out at the same time in a beautiful location. You can take your pick from a wide range of the best quality foods and relax with a glass of mulled wine or some of Thornbridge Halls award-winning real ales.
